The Campus Regulations address the rights and responsibilities of members of the University community as well as others while on University property.
Effective July 1, 2026, UCSB has a new Student Conduct Code. These policies apply to incidents that took place on or after July 1, 2026.
Effective July 1, 2026, UCSB has a new Student Conduct Investigation and Resolution Framework. This document applies to student conduct matters for which the written notice initiating the conduct process is issued on or after July 1, 2026, regardless of when the underlying incidents occurred.
Note:
- The Student Conduct Code serves as chapters VII [Student Organization Conduct and Discipline] and VIII [Student Conduct and Discipline] of the Campus Regulations. This version of the Student Conduct Code (effective fall 2020) applies to cases charged prior to January 1, 2026.
- The Interim Student Conduct Code (effective January 1, 2026) applies to student conduct matters for which the written notice initiating the conduct process is issued on or after January 1, 2026, for incidents occurring before July 1, 2026.
- The Interim Student Conduct Investigation and Resolution Framework (effective January 1, 2026) applies to student conduct matters for which the written notice initiating the conduct process is issued between January 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026, regardless of when the underlying incidents occurred
Update:
As of June 23, 2025, UCSB has adopted interim policies and procedures for hazing. This interim policy and procedure is required in order to be in compliance with federal hazing prevention legislation. The interim policy and procedure will be incorporated in the Campus Regulations at the next point of revision.
